Northern Perspectives, Artists Marketplace returning to Winnipeg

Isn't it delightful to experience an unusually mild February this year? It's a stark contrast from the bone-chilling cold we endured last year, isn't it?

Isn’t it delightful to experience an unusually mild February this year? It’s a stark contrast from the bone-chilling cold we endured last year, isn’t it? Typically, during the winter months, our team is hunkered down indoors, focusing on paperwork, report writing, and submitting proposals. And really, we’re a small little group who puts in a lot of volunteer time, and we have a lot of busy spring and summer activities ahead. But this year, with the warmer weather enticing us outdoors, we can’t help but feel a burst of excitement for what lies beyond the confines of our desks.

The shift in weather has inspired us to break free from our winter paperwork routines and embrace the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities for some fun and rejuvenation. That’s important too. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll in the park, a refreshing hike along scenic trails, or perhaps even a spontaneous picnic with colleagues, there’s no shortage of ways to soak up the sunshine and bask in the warmth of this unexpected gift from Mother Nature.

But first, a few bits of news on some exciting events we are doing a lot of exciting work to support:

The return of the Northern Perspectives conference to Winnipeg is just around the corner. The 2024 Northern Perspectives event serves as both a business and cultural showcase of Nunavut, aiming to broaden economic opportunities within the region and foster partnerships with businesses from Manitoba. Through its conference sessions, the event will delve into current developments in Nunavut while exploring avenues for growth and collaboration. The focus will be on identifying available opportunities and strategies to strengthen economic ties, with the ultimate goal of assisting Nunavut and its businesses in realizing their full potential. This platform seeks to facilitate meaningful dialogue, forge valuable connections, and pave the way for sustainable economic development in Nunavut.

Also joining the Northern Perspectives Conference this year is the Kivalliq Energy Forum. Launched in December 2019, the inaugural Kivalliq Energy Forum took place in Rankin Inlet. This annual event brings together businesses, governmental bodies, regulatory agencies, and community representatives to explore opportunities, resources, and technologies geared towards meeting the escalating energy demands of the North sustainably and with a keen eye on environmental preservation. Following the success of the inaugural forum, the second edition took place in December 2022. Comprehensive information and final reports from these impactful gatherings can be accessed at https://www.kivalliqenergyforum.ca/.

Anticipation is high for the upcoming Kivalliq Energy Forum scheduled for February 26th – 29th, 2024, in Winnipeg. This edition promises to be even more dynamic as it coincides with the 2024 Northern Perspectives Trade Show & Conference at the prestigious Winnipeg Art Gallery. Stay informed about this and other events by contacting us at info@kivalliqchamber.ca to be added to our mailing list. Join us as we continue to shape the future of energy in the North!

Last, but absolutely not least is the return of the Kivalliq-Manitoba Artists marketplace. We’ve been building an online marketplace to support participating artists and really excited to see this event taking place. The eagerly anticipated Kivalliq-Manitoba Artists marketplace marks a highlight of this year’s Northern Perspectives conference. Hosted at the iconic Qaumajuq and the Winnipeg Art Gallery, this marketplace promises to showcase the diverse talents and cultural richness of artists from the Kivalliq region and Manitoba alike.

It’s a celebration of creativity, tradition, and collaboration, providing a platform for artists to connect with audiences, share their stories, and promote their unique creations. Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to explore and support the vibrant artistry of the North and Manitoba at the Kivalliq-Manitoba Artists marketplace during the Northern Perspectives conference.

The Northern Perspectives Conference and Kivalliq Energy Forum run from February 26-29, 2024 in Winnipeg. For more information on how to register, visit their web site at: https://northperspectives.com or https://kivalliqchamber.ca
