Treatment: Against the Burned Path

1. LOGLINE

After being wrongfully disqualified from a major competition, a disgraced parkour team enters a brutal, unsanctioned urban race through an industrial wasteland to reclaim their honor from the rivals who sabotaged them.

2. SYNOPSIS

In the oppressive heat of a derelict industrial complex, KAREN, a fiercely determined athlete, pushes her body to its absolute limit. This is the first leg of a grueling, unsanctioned relay race—her team’s only chance at redemption. Guided by her strategist, JIM, via comms, she scales a crumbling six-metre wall, every muscle screaming in protest. The climb is not just a physical challenge but a penance, fueled by the bitter memory of their last official race: the day their rival, MALIK, deliberately sabotaged them, costing them the season and their reputation. As Karen navigates the treacherous course of rusted pipes and narrow gaps, flashbacks to Malik’s arrogance and the team’s stolen victory intensify her resolve. After a harrowing squeeze between two colossal water tanks, she gets an update from the team's spotter, MARLENE: Malik’s team is slowing, and there's a chance to close the gap. This news ignites a final, desperate surge of energy. Karen sprints through the last stretch, a concrete wasteland, and successfully hands off the tracker to her powerhouse teammate, TED, before collapsing in exhaustion. As Ted launches into the next leg with savage grace, Karen watches, bruised and battered but resolute. The first battle is won, but the war for their honor is far from over.

3. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

* KAREN (20s): The Heart. Gritty, tenacious, and fueled by a burning sense of injustice. Her physical endurance is matched only by her emotional resilience. She carries the weight of the team's past failure personally and is willing to push herself past the breaking point for a chance at redemption.

* JIM (20s): The Strategist. The calm, steady voice in their ears. From a remote location, he watches maps and schematics, providing crucial guidance and tactical support. He is the anchor who keeps the runners focused, blending encouragement with blunt, necessary commands.

* TED (20s): The Powerhouse. Stoic, powerful, and brutally efficient in his movements. Where Karen is a scrambler, Ted is a force of nature. He is the team’s heavy hitter, reserved for the most physically demanding legs of the course that require raw strength and explosive power.

* MARLENE (20s): The Overwatch. Precise and analytical, Marlene is the team’s eye in the sky. She tracks the progress of all competing teams, identifies opportunities, and provides real-time data that can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

* MALIK (20s) (Seen in flashback): The Rival. Smug, arrogant, and contemptible. He believes winning is all that matters, regardless of the method. His engineered "accidents" and sneering confidence are the driving force behind our team's quest for vengeance.

4. SCENE BEATS

* OPENING IMAGE: Close on Karen’s fingers, white-knuckled, scrabbling for a hold on a gritty concrete wall. The sun beats down mercilessly. This is a struggle from frame one.
* THE CRUCIBLE: Karen hauls herself up the wall, her exhaustion palpable. The ground below is a hazardous landscape of rebar and shattered glass. This isn't a game; it's a punishment.
* THE ANCHOR: Jim's voice crackles in her ear, guiding her to a rusted pipe—a potential lifeline. Their banter reveals a deep, familiar trust.
* THE WOUND: As she hangs from the pipe, the physical strain triggers an internal flashback: the smell of cut grass, the flash of a starter pistol, and the sight of Malik's engineered stumble that cost them everything. The emotional stakes are established.
* THE SPUR: Jim’s voice cuts through the memory, sharp and urgent. "Malik's team is still in the lead." The past and present collide, fueling Karen’s anger and determination.
* THE SYMBOL: Atop the wall, Karen spots a faded graffiti tag of a falcon—their team symbol. A flash of memory reveals Malik mockingly defacing the same symbol before their fateful race. The rivalry is personal and deeply disrespectful.
* THE CONSTRICTION: Karen faces the next obstacle: a gap between two massive water tanks, barely wide enough to pass. She is forced to shed her pack and squeeze through, the scraping metal and confined space creating a claustrophobic, tense moment.
* A GLIMMER OF HOPE: Safely through, Marlene’s voice cuts in with critical intel: Malik’s team is slowing. They can make up time. A surge of adrenaline hits Karen.
* THE FINAL PUSH: Karen sees the checkpoint and her teammate, Ted, waiting. She launches into an all-out sprint across an open, rubble-strewn expanse, her body screaming but her will unbroken. The memory of Malik’s sneering face is her fuel.
* THE HANDOFF: Karen stumbles toward Ted, slapping the tracker into his waiting palm in a single, fluid motion. The physical contact is grounding and significant.
* CLOSING IMAGE: Karen collapses against a wall, utterly spent. She watches as Ted, a fresh engine of pure power, attacks the next leg of the course—a mountain of old tires—with a primal, unstoppable grace. The fight is not over; it has just been passed to the next warrior. The sun begins to set, casting long shadows, hinting at the long road still ahead.
