Your Personal Noodle Bar in a Jar
Unleash your creativity with these stunning and delicious noodle jars. The fun is in the layering—packing a glass jar with colorful veggies, protein, and noodles. When you're ready to eat, simply pour in hot water, wait a few minutes, and enjoy a fresh, steaming bowl of soup that you designed yourself.
Materials
- 2 pint-sized glass jars with lids
- 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp Sriracha or chili garlic sauce
- 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken or firm tofu
- 1 cup cooked rice vermicelli noodles
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 cup chopped scallions
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Preparation
- Start by making the flavor base. In each jar, add 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1/2 tbsp sesame oil, and 1/2 tsp Sriracha.
- Layer the heartiest ingredients first. Add the cooked chicken or tofu to the bottom of each jar.
- Next, layer the firmer vegetables like shredded carrots and sliced mushrooms.
- Add the cooked noodles, followed by the delicate baby spinach.
- Top everything off with the chopped scallions. Seal the jars tightly.
Cooking
- When ready to eat, open the jar and pour boiling water over the ingredients until the jar is almost full.
- Seal the lid back on and let it sit for 3-5 minutes, giving it a gentle shake halfway through.
- The hot water will heat everything and create a fragrant broth.
