Making Memories with Auviqsaqtut
This photo from the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Qaumajuq during ‘Auviqsaqtut,’ is still growing, now over 255,421 views. It wasn’t just a snapshot from a conference. It was a glimpse into a space that’s become a second home. Qaumajuq. It was one of the first big moments for our Arts Incubator program, a real launch.
The photo shows what Qaumajuq is for us: a meeting place. Especially when our friends, collaborators and partners come to town, it’s where we gather. You can see that warmth in the image—youth artists from Tuktoyaktuk, artists and researchers, everyone feeling at home in that bright, light-filled space. It’s where so many of our workshops have happened over the last few years.
Auviqsaqtut wasn’t just a conference; it was a homecoming. A place where familiar faces and new connections met. The photo captured the feeling of shared purpose, the sense of community that Qaumajuq fosters. It’s a place where we meet, where ideas spark, and where partnerships strengthen. This was the highlight of our first program, seeded with support from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse program.
