As the last edition of our AI Food Art Friday series for 2024, we’re excited to explore the intersection of AI food art and holiday-inspired dishes. This week’s challenge invites artists to create a festive holiday masterpiece featuring cranberry & Brussels sprouts. The goal is to capture the perfect balance of rustic charm and refined elegance, resulting in an image that not only highlights the beauty of the ingredients but also evokes a sense of celebration and warmth.

We’re really thankful to Manitoba Agriculture and the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership for supporting our food security programming this year. Food art was an unexpected surprise for us, as we didn’t know a lot of people were interested in it. So we’re going to keep going with our Food Prompt Friday series in the new year, so stay tuned! From all of us to all of you, we wish everyone a very healthy Happy New Year!

Prompt Overview:
“A luxurious holiday dish featuring roasted Brussels sprouts, caramelized to perfection with maple syrup, mixed with dried cranberries, toasted pecans, and crumbled feta cheese. The Brussels sprouts glisten with a golden sheen, their crispy edges catching the light. The ingredients are beautifully arranged on a handcrafted ceramic plate with a textured surface, offering a rustic yet refined backdrop. The festive décor softly blurs in the background, adding depth and a sense of celebration to the scene. Captured at an f/3.5 aperture, focusing on the glossy texture and intricate details of the caramelized sprouts while gently blurring the background for depth.”

This stunning composition blends high-end food photography techniques with AI-generated art to explore the festive spirit of the season. The combination of golden-hour backlighting, subtle rim lighting, and soft fill light creates an ambiance that enhances the natural gloss of the Brussels sprouts, while the cranberries and toasted pecans add vibrancy and contrast. The texture-rich details highlight the crispy caramelized edges of the sprouts, bringing this holiday dish to life through light, color, and depth.

We invite our artists to delve into this seasonal exploration, experimenting with angles, lighting, and texture to bring the dish to its fullest potential. This AI food art activity helps develop digital literacy and a deeper understanding of composition, offering new ways to create stunning food photography and visual storytelling.

About our Winter 2025 Arts program

As part of our AI Food Art Friday series, this challenge is not just about creating stunning food imagery—it’s about exploring the broader landscape of digital literacymedia arts and how generative AI tools are shaping the future of creativity. Engaging with AI to craft these images, artists develop a deeper understanding of AI-assisted design, digital media, and visual storytelling. This exploration fosters critical skills in creative problem-solvingprompt crafting, and mastering new technology, empowering artists to push the boundaries of their craft while enhancing their digital fluency. Through this process, we’re not only creating art but also learning to navigate the evolving intersection of technology and creativity. Our 2025 Winter and Fall program activities are supported by the OpenAI Researcher Access Program and the Manitoba Arts Council.
