It invites trouble. Yet, a fifty-foot mural of a local steelworker can keep a wall clean for years. Why does paint prevent vandalism better than a high-security chain-link fence? The answer lies in how we react to our surroundings. Physical space dictates human behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is public art just urban camouflage? Maybe it only hides decay. Cities spend millions on maintenance budgets. They paint over graffiti. They install cameras. It is a constant war against rust and neglect. We can look at these murals as biological scent markers. Do they simply mark territory?
