The connection broke over time. Survival data disappeared because we stopped repeating it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Sumerian epic of Enmerkar, a messenger grew too tired to deliver long oral messages. His mouth was heavy. He could not repeat the words accurately. Enmerkar wrote the words on clay instead. This was the first mechanical mediation of human memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intergenerational knowledge transfer is the passage of survival data across generations. Historically, this occurred through speech and direct mimicry. Now we have algorithmic mediation. This is the software-driven filtering of this same data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI acts as an active third party. It alters the context of ancestral knowledge. The software does not just store data; it translates it into modern terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We rarely talk directly to elders. Instead, we query databases of their digitized letters. AI models summarize these lives, interpreting the dead through software. This process changes the tone and strips away the human friction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We must prioritize oral friction over digital ease. We should document the gaps where the system fails. It is better to preserve raw, unparsed records. Do not clean the spelling. The errors contain the history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sumerian messenger used clay to ease his burden. We must not let the digital tablet make our own voices heavy and silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Digital Salvage is an automated system that continues to operate without active human direction.
