Chairperson\u00a0Pat Daignault\u00a0called the meeting to order, with a strong turnout of community participants both in person and by phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>NWMO Presentation on the Centre of Expertise<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Guests from the\u00a0Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO)\u2014Chantelle Gascon, Kiran Fahran, Project Engineer, and\u00a0Justin Wallbott, Real Estate for Ignace\u2014provided an overview and conceptual drawings for the proposed\u00a0Centre of Expertiseto be built in\u00a0Ignace. The design is still being finalized, with an estimated\u00a02032 start date\u00a0for Deep Geological Repository (DGR) construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presentation noted that both\u00a0regional and international employment opportunities\u00a0will be available as the project progresses. The Board agreed to host\u00a0quarterly information sessions\u00a0to keep residents informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Business Updates<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>BBQ Purchase:<\/strong>\u00a0A new BBQ has been purchased by\u00a0<strong>Terri Bell<\/strong>\u00a0from Home Hardware and will arrive next week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Deck and Window Replacement:<\/strong>\u00a0The contractor will begin installing pilings as soon as the current job wraps up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Insurance Provider Update:<\/strong>\u00a0Standard Insurance has officially changed its name to\u00a0<strong>Brokerlink<\/strong>. Norm Eady will follow up with the company regarding hall monitoring devices once the transition is complete.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New Business<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0snow plowing contract\u00a0was awarded to\u00a0Karen Daignault\u00a0at a rate of\u00a0$275 per call-out. A motion (By-Law 08-2025) was moved by\u00a0Norm Eady\u00a0and seconded by\u00a0Sean Merritt\u00a0to enter into the contract, pending a copy of valid insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Interim Tax Roll<\/strong>&nbsp;has been received, and the following community updates were shared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Games Night<\/strong>\u00a0will begin\u00a0<strong>Wednesday, November 5, 2025 (4\u20137 p.m.)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Christmas Dinner date<\/strong>\u00a0will be set at the November meeting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Garbage Roster<\/strong>\u00a0is now posted at the hall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eavestroughs<\/strong>\u00a0at the hall will be checked by\u00a0<strong>Sean Merritt<\/strong>\u00a0for cleaning needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A\u00a0<strong>new Keurig coffee maker<\/strong>\u00a0will also be purchased, as the old one has stopped working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;<strong>planned power outage<\/strong>&nbsp;is scheduled for&nbsp;<strong>Friday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to noon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Financial &amp; Administrative Notes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Accounting firm&nbsp;<strong>Winter\u2019s &amp; Co.<\/strong>&nbsp;has provided two options for this year\u2019s financial review\u2014a&nbsp;<strong>full audit<\/strong>&nbsp;or a&nbsp;<strong>Review Engagement<\/strong>. The Board will decide which option to proceed with, and year-end documents will be delivered on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hydro readings<\/strong>&nbsp;are to be called in to Hydro One between&nbsp;<strong>November 6 and 9<\/strong>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Sean Merritt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Board reminds residents that&nbsp;<strong>community message boards are reserved for LSB postings<\/strong>. Anyone wishing to post information should contact a Board member for permission, space permitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going forward, the\u00a0<strong>minutes will no longer be read aloud during meetings<\/strong>. Instead, they will be\u00a0<strong>posted on message boards and emailed to the community mailing list<\/strong>.
