A Gathering of Food, Friendship, and Storytelling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This week looked a little different in place of our usual weekend storytelling and code club \u2014 and in the best possible way. Instead of our usual sessions, we were able to come together at the Dyment Recreation Hall for an evening filled with food, laughter, and shared memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t just about the meal (though we certainly enjoyed it!). The gathering marked the beginning of Global Dignity Week<\/a><\/strong>, a time to celebrate respect, compassion, and the stories that connect us. Around the tables, conversations flowed easily \u2014 about old times, future plans, and the creative projects that continue to grow in our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We shared glimpses of the storytelling and oral history work that\u2019s underway \u2014 including new discoveries and local legends. Did you know there\u2019s an old buried locomotive that once went off the tracks nearby? We learned about some of the old buildings, like the old hall and clothing store and where they used to be located. That story sparked more memories, including one from Jack about the games and pastimes of his youth \u2014 a tale we\u2019re saving for another day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food is Belonging<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As the afternoon came to a close, there was a sense that something special was taking root: a deeper appreciation for how community, stories, art, and shared meals can bring people closer together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later this month, we\u2019ll continue exploring our local heritage with a look into the history of\u00a0Dyment <\/strong>and Melgund Township<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 another chance to listen, learn, and celebrate the creativity of our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, we want to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and peaceful holiday. May your tables be filled with good food, your homes with laughter, and your hearts with gratitude.
