This summer, our program has been focused on fostering innovation and growth in Northwestern Ontario’s interdisciplinary arts sector. We’ve provided artists with professional development and training that merges traditional knowledge with contemporary practices, helping them build sustainable careers. The success of this initiative is due to the dedication and expertise of the mentors, collaborators, and artists who have shared their time and skills. We are deeply grateful for their support in helping us build a more vibrant and connected arts community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, a sincere thank you goes out to\u00a0Jamie Bell<\/strong>, an interdisciplinary artist who has been instrumental in mentoring and shaping our program. A long-time artist with a background in film and television through his work with the highly successful Arviat Film Society and Arviat Television, Jamie has been a foundational member of our team. His expertise as a community-based researcher, with a focus on oral history and storytelling, has been invaluable. As a founding member of The Arts Incubator, a Winnipeg-based arts hub which piloted our first community arts programming in 2022, Jamie has helped us to plan and execute our current program and get our new platform and programming up and running. We are incredibly grateful for his vision and guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s arts incubator program in Borups Corners would not have been possible without the incredible support and funding from the\u00a0Ontario Arts Council Multi and Inter-Arts Projects<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0program. This year\u2019s programming has also been supported by Ottawa-based\u00a0Global Dignity Canada<\/a><\/strong>, the\u00a0Local Services Board of Melgund<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0The Arts Incubator<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Minneapolis College of Art and Design Creative Entrepreneurship Program<\/a><\/strong>.
