This summer, our program has been focused on empowering community artists in Northwestern Ontario by blending traditional knowledge with contemporary digital technologies. We’ve aimed to equip artists with the professional and operational skills they need to thrive, addressing the significant challenges they face in a struggling arts sector. This initiative, which includes comprehensive training, mentorship, and opportunities for professional development, is made possible through the collaboration and support of many dedicated individuals. We are deeply grateful to the researchers, educators, creative entrepreneurs, and, most importantly, the artists who have shared their time and talent to make this program a success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we offer a profound thank you to Tony Eetak<\/strong>, one of the founding members of our program. Tony is a talented young photographer and musician with a keen interest in interdisciplinary arts. Drawing on his experience as a member of the highly-successful Arviat Film Society, a youth leader with Ottawa-based Global Dignity Canada and The Arts Incubator in Winnipeg, Tony has been instrumental in helping us build a new arts platform for our community programming. His expertise and dedication have been crucial in supporting our oral history and storytelling program, and we are excited for his first stories to be published this fall and winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would not have been able to sustain this year\u2019s program without the support and funding from the Ontario Arts Council Multi and Inter-Arts Projects<\/strong><\/a> program. We are also grateful for the support of Ottawa-based Global Dignity Canada<\/a><\/strong>, the Local Services Board of Melgund<\/a><\/strong>, The Arts Incubator<\/a><\/strong> and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design Creative Entrepreneurship Program<\/a><\/strong>.
