This year, a familiar and much-anticipated aroma is rising from our\u00a0community garden\u00a0beds: dill! We were first introduced to this wonderful\u00a0herb\u00a0last year, as part of our pilot program, generously supported by Manitoba Agriculture and the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership. For many of us, it was the very first time we’d seen or even tasted dill directly from the plant. The flavor was such a surprise \u2013 like that familiar potato chip seasoning, but fresh and vibrant! Now, we’ve happily added more to our community grow beds, and we\u2019re truly excited to taste it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But this year’s dill at the\u00a0Living Lab\u00a0is more than just a delicious addition to our\u00a0sustainable agriculture\u00a0efforts. For us, it\u2019s a living memory of all the good experiences from last year’s pilot program. Each feathery green frond reminds us of the connections made, the knowledge shared, and the sheer joy of hands-on learning. It represents a deeper thread in our\u00a0storytelling\u00a0project, a plant that instantly brings back a sense of discovery and collaboration. It’s a plant we truly hope to continue cultivating for years to come, embedding it firmly into the fabric of our outdoor spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the dill grows, its delicate, feathery foliage is a beautiful sight, offering another unique element for\u00a0plant documentation\u00a0through our artistic programming. Its slender stalks and tiny, emerging flower heads provide another interesting subject for those engaging in\u00a0photography workshops\u00a0or simply observing the intricate beauty of nature. This\u00a0garden expansion\u00a0with plants like dill enhances our\u00a0nature connection\u00a0and expands our\u00a0urban farming\u00a0practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
