Today marks the\u00a0International Day of Plant Health<\/a><\/strong>, a global reminder that the health of plants is deeply tied to the well-being of people, animals, and the ecosystems we all rely on. This year\u2019s theme\u2014Plant Health in the One Health Approach<\/a><\/strong>\u2014highlights just how interconnected these systems are, and why caring for the land is a vital part of caring for our communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As we mark this important day, we\u2019re proud to share that we are now entering the second year of our sustainable agriculture and food security programming<\/strong>. What started as a small, humble pilot has begun to grow\u2014both literally and figuratively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Supported by funding from\u00a0Manitoba Agriculture\u2019s Indigenous Food Systems and Agriculture Program<\/a><\/strong>, and the\u00a0Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership<\/a><\/strong>, our work continues to explore practical, community-led approaches to land-based learning and local food production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This year, we\u2019re expanding our efforts by planting an additional 30 apple trees<\/strong>, grown from local seeds<\/strong>, along with raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries<\/strong>. In the spirit of learning and experimentation, we\u2019re also adding something new (and a little fun) to the mix\u2014giant pumpkins!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
