Growing Food Security Together<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First signs of spring! This raspberry shoot marks the beginning of our second season of food production and sustainable agriculture project\u2014piloted and planted last year with support from Manitoba Agriculture Indigenous Food Systems and Agriculture<\/a> program and the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership<\/a>. We\u2019re seeing strong early growth, with many new canes emerging across these plots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our raspberry bushes are waking up after a long winter, and the ground is alive with new shoots. These first signs of growth mark an exciting next phase in our journey\u2014building on last year\u2019s pilot to grow a steady, local source of fresh fruit. With healthy canes emerging across the patch, we\u2019re on track to harvest enough for a small run of raspberry preserves or syrups this season. It’s a grounded step toward sustainable food systems rooted in place, care, and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raspberries are resilient, nutrient-rich, and well-suited for our climate. As we deepen our commitment to local food systems, we\u2019re planning to produce a small batch of raspberry-based products later this season. It\u2019s a first step toward community-led agriculture that respects the land and builds food security in our region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
