DESCRIPTION:The Art of Storytelling\nThis month\, we’re starting on a compelling journey into the art of storytelling\, with a special focus on the invaluable practice of oral history projects. We believe in the power of lived experiences and community narratives\, and this session is dedicated to exploring how these stories can be captured\, preserved\, and shared for generations to come. \nWe extend a warm invitation to artists\, collectives\, and community groups throughout Northern and Northwestern Ontario. This is a vital professional development opportunity to deepen your understanding and skills in a culturally significant field. \nDuring this engaging program\, you will: \n\nExamine compelling examples of highly successful past northern oral history projects\, gaining insight into their methodologies\, challenges\, and lasting impact.\nDiscover practical steps and foundational knowledge on how communities\, artists\, and organizations can effectively start their own oral history programs\, turning personal narratives into powerful collective histories.\n\nJoin us to explore the transformative potential of oral history and empower your community through the enduring art of storytelling. \n\nAbout the Program\nOur core artistic idea is to empower community artists by merging traditional knowledge with contemporary digital technologies\, fostering sustainable self-employment and community-driven arts sector development. \nEach week will have a different theme\, ranging from digital arts\, tools and technologies\, to administration skills\, like grant writing\, proposal writing\, budgeting and advertising. It’s open to all\, and we meet both in-person and online most weeks.
