School’s out and summer is here! May and June was the busiest month we’ve had yet for relationship development and engagement and it was also the most fun! This summer, we’re out and about across Manitoba engaging and connecting with organizations and people who have inspired our programming.
May ended with exciting activities on two continents: roundtable dialogues with the Manitoba Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts in Winnipeg; and the 2024 Arctic Congress in Bodø, Norway. In June, the Turtle Island Block Party on June 29, organized by the Sākihiwē Festival in Winnipeg, was a stellar community event that we really enjoyed and learned a lot from.
Growing our Audience from the Ground Up
May and June were among the busiest months for everyone to date! Web traffic surged significantly during this period, with a notable increase in website visits, indicating heightened engagement and interest in the project’s activities.
Since we upgraded our platform in February, we’ve generated more than 296,000 impressions and more than 28,300 users. June 2024 saw 8,820 visitors exploring our content. Congratulations to the youth, artists and volunteers on this incredible achievement, and thank you to everyone who took time to visit.

Designing our Creative Journeys

Global Dignity Day 2024
October 16, 2024 – Global Dignity Day aims to empower individuals with the belief that every human being has the inherent right to live a life marked by dignity and respect.
National Kindness Week 2025
February 9, 2025 – The annual, week-long celebration encourages Canadians from coast to coast to coast to celebrate acts of kindness, volunteerism and charitable giving to the benefit of all Canadians, and will connect individuals and organizations to share resources, information and tools to foster more acts of kindness.

About our summer programming
This community and volunteer-driven program was initially seeded with funding from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse in 2021 and Manitoba Arts Council Indigenous 360 programs in 2022. It has since grown to includeprogramming made possible with support from the, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, OpenAI Researcher Access Program, Global Dignity Canada, Live It Earth, the University of Victoria Community Based Research Lab, University of Minnesota Duluth, the University of the Arctic and the Thematic Network on Local-Scale Planning, Climate Change and Resilience, and LembasWorks. We also acknowledge funding in 2023-2024 from Manitoba Agriculture, the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Skills Program.
